Dyke March 2006!

So today was the 10th year the Dyke march has strolled through Andersonville. Woman of all ages, race and ethnicity join together to put a voice behind the struggle of queer woman. Our neighborhood celebrates diversity and proves that we can all live together.

another one bites the dust...

The corner grille looks like it has gone out of business. A big truck came by this morning and all of their cooking equipment, tables and chairs where hauled out. It seems like nothing can stay open in this building. I wonder if it is haunted?

Brown Elephant

The Brown Elephant is a great thrift store with all the profits from sales going to Howard Brown Health Center. They were now located a few blocks north from their old location. The building they are in used to be a theather, the inside is beautiful they haven't painted or done anything to destroy the vintage feel or look!

The outside of the building is gorgeous as well, with old world charm and construction. It's a most see if you are in the hood!

I like to play with different techniques when it comes to photography. As I walk I like to randomly shoot photos from my hip. Not really pointing at anything or anyone but just shooting as I walk past people. I like that everything in the photo is not posed for and everyone is really natural. I feel like you get a true image of the person and the moment they are in!

new burger joint!

So we got a new burger joint in the hood, Hamburger Mary’s opened it’s doors about 2 weeks ago. From what I hear the chain started in the west coast and has slowly moved to the mid-west. The theme of the restaurant which is “drag” fits in really well with our hood. They bring your check in a high heel shoe and on the second floor they will have drag queen and drag king shows. They also have a bar just in case you need a drink after work!
